'I'm actually very good at turning on the charm when I meet a boyfriend's parents - you wouldn't believe how polite and charming I can be,' she laughs. But press the exquisite Italian on parental etiquette and it's clear we're only getting half the story.

'Alright, I may well have misbehaved in boyfriends' parents' houses before,' she adds quietly. 'It's just I'm also very good at not getting caught.'
