Most of the cars US firm Dodge makes are models you’re probably best to, er, dodge. But not this one. It’s called the Challenger SRT8 and it’s so desirable the first production versions were auctioned off for silly sums of money before they even left the factory gates. And that’s not surprising. With its swooping coupé body, the hot rod looks like a millionaire’s mid-life crisis on wheels.
It’s a modern-day version of the classic Challenger, which was a massive hit in the US back in the 1970s. Like its predecessor, this one is every inch the all-American muscle car, with a lairy V8 engine up front and rear-wheel drive – a recipe for some crazy tail slides.
Incredibly the Challenger SRT8 only costs $40,000 (that’s just £20,000). What’s more unbelievable is that Dodge doesn’t plan to sell it here. The company reckons us Brits can make do with its Avenger, Caliber and Nitro, which are all rubbish. Thanks, buddies.
